Google profile stats

The Google profile page shows how people find and contact you on Google. The figures come straight from your Google Business Profile, the same ones Google shows you.

What each number means

  • Profile views: how many people saw your Business Profile on Google Search or Google Maps. Google counts each person once a day on each of Search and Maps, so someone who sees you several times in a day counts once.
  • Calls: taps on the Call button on your profile. Calls from your website or from people who copy your number aren't counted.
  • Website clicks: clicks on the link to your website from your profile.
  • Direction requests: people who asked Google Maps for directions to you. Businesses that go to their customers and hide their address usually get few or none.
  • Bookings: shown only if people have booked through your profile with Reserve with Google.
  • Where people saw you: the last 30 days of views split by Search or Maps, and by phone or computer.
  • Month by month: each month's totals, compared with the same month last year when Google has it. Google keeps 18 months of figures, so that's as far back as this goes.
  • What people searched for: the searches that showed your profile last month, and how many people made each one.

Each number is compared with the 30 days before. Small numbers show the difference as a count ("3 more") rather than a percentage, since going from 1 to 4 isn't really "300% more".

Why the figures are a few days behind

Google takes about 4 days to finish counting each day, so the page shows the last 30 days Google has figures for, and says which days those are. A day still missing isn't a day with nothing; it's just not in yet. We fetch the latest figures from Google every day.

The monthly summary email goes out on the 5th so that last month is (nearly) complete. If Google hasn't finished the last few days yet, the email says how far the figures go.

Why searches say "fewer than 15"

To protect searchers' privacy, Google doesn't give exact counts for searches that only a few people made. It just says fewer than 15. That's normal for most local businesses, especially for specific searches. Searches with exact counts are listed first.

Google shares searches once a month, early in the month, for the month before. The current month's searches appear next month.

Several locations

With more than one location, the page adds them together, or you can choose one location from the list at the top. Searches are shown one location at a time.

The health check

The Health check tab scores your Google profile out of 100 and lists the three changes that will help most this week. We check your profile every day, and you can press Check again after making a change in Google.

  • Description (10): uses most of Google's 750 characters, without a phone number, web address, prices or exclamation marks (Google doesn't allow them in descriptions).
  • Categories (10): a main category, plus at least one more for other things you do.
  • Services (10): at least 5, most with a short description.
  • Opening hours (10) and holiday hours (5): regular hours, and holiday hours set in the last year.
  • Website and phone (5).
  • Photos (5) and new photos (10): at least 10 photos, and one added in the last month.
  • Posts (10): a Google post in the last month.
  • New reviews (10): at least 4 a month over the last 3 months.
  • Replies (15): a reply to at least 9 in 10 of the last year's reviews. Once you've replied to 5 or more new reviews through KilaReviews, we also show how quickly you reply, and replies that take more than 2 days on average lose 3 points. (Google only tells us when a reply was last edited, so we only time replies we posted for you.)

Owners can ask for an AI draft of the description and the services list, written from your current profile and anything you'd like to mention. Edit it, approve it, then copy it into Google yourself: KilaReviews doesn't change your profile. We keep only the score's figures (counts and dates), never your profile text or photos.

The ranking map (Pro)

The ranking map shows where you come up when someone searches Google Maps from different spots around your area. Google Maps mostly shows businesses close to the person searching, so you might be first near your base and nowhere a few suburbs away. The map shows you where.

  1. Go to Google profile > Ranking map (owners can set it up; everyone on the team can see it).
  2. Find the centre of your area: your suburb, or your shop or office address.
  3. Choose how far around it to check, from 2 to 30 km each way.
  4. Add up to 3 keywords: what customers type to find a business like yours, such as "plumber" or "blocked drains". Searches from your stats are suggested.

Your first scan runs straight away and takes a minute or two. We search Google Maps at 49 spots (a 7 by 7 grid across the area) for each keyword, as someone on a computer there would, and show your position at each spot: green for 1 to 3, yellow for 4 to 10, orange for 11 to 20, and red when you're not in the top 20. Click a spot to see who came first there.

After that it runs every month, so you can see whether you're moving up. You can also press Scan now (up to 3 scans a month), for example after changing your keywords.

Rankings move through the day and differ a little from person to person, so treat the map as a guide to where you're strong and where you're not, rather than an exact score. More reviews, replying to them, and a complete, active profile all help.

Competitor comparison (Pro)

Under the ranking map, You and your competitors puts your Google profile next to up to 3 competitors'. By default they're the businesses in the top 3 at the most spots on your ranking map; owners can choose others from the businesses that showed up there.

  • Rating and reviews: star rating and total reviews on Google, with how many each gained since last month.
  • New reviews: how many reviews a month each business has had over the last 3 months. This is usually the biggest difference between businesses that rank well and those that don't.
  • Replied to: the share of the last year's reviews that got a reply from the business.
  • Photos: how many photos are on each profile.

It updates every month after your ranking map scan. We count from each business's 50 newest Google reviews and keep only the numbers, never who wrote a review or what it said.

Disconnecting Google

If you disconnect Google from a location (Settings > Locations), its profile stats, searches and health check figures are deleted from KilaReviews straight away, along with its synced reviews. Your figures stay safe in Google. Connect again and we fetch the last 18 months from Google once more. Ranking map results don't come from your Google connection, so they're kept, but new scans need Google connected.

We only keep a short-term copy of your stats, refreshed from Google every day, and we never combine them with other businesses' figures. See our privacy policy.
